What You Should Do If You Suspect You Have H1N1 Flu

1.   Call the 24-hour hotline created by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services at 866.321.9571, which is equipped to handle questions on H1N1 influenza.
2.   Visit the Centers for Disease Control web site at www.cdc.gov/. This web site has great information, including criteria that would make you a candidate for the H1N1 flu.
3.   If you meet the criteria, call your primary care physician and set up an appointment.
4.   Your primary care physician will inform you of next steps you should take.
5.   Until you know for certain, there are precautions you should take to avoid infecting others:
√   Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash can after you use it.
√    Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleansers are also effective.
√   Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs can spread that way.
√   Stay home from work or school and limit contact with others.
