Milford Health & Wellness / Urgent Care:
Overview
The Milford Health & Wellness Center has filled the void in Pike County, the only county Pennsylvania without a full scale hospital, and has quickly become the healthcare provider of choice for area residents. More than 76,000 people access its services each year.
These services include Milford Urgent Care, Newton Medical Center Lab and X-ray Services and an array of private practice physician offices, including family practitioners, cardiologists, internal medicine practitioners and pediatricians.
To further support local residents, the Newton Medical Center Foundation established the Pike County Health Fund to address the needs of children, seniors and working families who are under-insured or un-insured. The Pike County Health Fund provides free health screenings and educational programming designed to improve the health and well-being of local citizens.
The Pike County Health Fund also operates the Pike County Teen and Family Resource Center, which opened in 2006 in recognition of a growing need for outreach efforts among teenagers in the community. The program has made quick strides in helping to change the way parents and teenagers view drug and alcohol dependency.
