SPARTA – The Frank Redfern Memorial Golf Open is the region’s premiere golf outing which brings together Newton Memorial Hospital supporters to honor one of its beloved trustees, the late Mr. Redfern.

Made possible by Titanium Sponsor Atlantic Health System, this year’s outing is scheduled for July 12 at Lake Mohawk Golf Club. All proceeds raised from the event will support Newton Memorial Hospital’s efforts to expand its imaging capabilities by adding Digital Mammography, the most accurate imaging tool for identifying tumors in the breasts.

“All the members of the Newton Memorial Hospital Foundation are even more proud to organize the event this year because the funds are going toward such an important diagnostic tool,” said Megan Sandow, Newton Memorial Hospital Vice President of Development.“Early identification of malignant tumors makes all the difference and we look forward to supporting this project.”

Frank Redfern was a passionate supporter of Newton Memorial hospital and enjoyed the myriad golf offerings throughout Sussex County. The Golf Open was organized as a way of the community remembering his civic-mindedness by bringing together his love of golf and support of Newton Memorial. Every year, the Golf Open grows in popularity and helps to strengthen Newton Memorial Hospital.

The event will also include hole-in-one opportunities to win a Mercedes SUV donated by Intercar or a trip to Aruba, which was donated in honor of the late Roland Johnson, M.D. It also will feature the hot-air balloon golf ball drop, the winner of which can win as much as $15,000
