MILFORD, PA – Milford Health & Wellness Day will give attendees an opportunity to better understand the many ways the facility creates a vital access point to healthcare services for the residents of Pike County.
And if that’s not enough to entice you, attendees will be given opportunities to win a variety of prizes, including Apple’s revolutionary iPad.
“We’re very proud of the breadth of healthcare services we provide to this community and Milford Health & Wellness Day gives us a great opportunity to share our pride with the public,” said Gerry Dziak, director of Milford Urgent Care. “It’s a free, family friendly event. We’re even setting up a bounce house outside the building to encourage families to come and learn more about us and the role we play in improving the health of the community.”
Milford Health & Wellness Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 25 at Milford Health & Wellness Center at 111 E. Catharine Street in Milford. The event includes multiple vendors, free healthy snacks as well as a variety of free screenings, including those for blood pressure, skin cancer and vision impairment. Lipid and glucose screenings can be arranged in advance by appointment.
In addition to the iPad, attendees will have opportunities to win a three-month gym membership, a gift basket provided by the Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Yankees and tickets to the Newton Memorial Hospital Foundation annual fundraiser An Evening of Wine & Roses, which last year included a visit by celebrity chef Rachael Ray.
But the focus of the event is on wellness and the many ways the facility makes Pike County a healthier, more vibrant place to live and work. The Milford Health & Wellness Center opened in 2001 and met an unfilled need for healthcare services in Pike County, which is the only county in Pennsylvania without a hospital. The facility provides access to Urgent Care medicine, lab and diagnostic services, including CT scan, and a houses a variety of primary care and specialty care physicians. It also provides a number of free healthcare screens and plays a crucial role in educating the community on healthy living and, through the Pike County Teen Alcohol Drug and Resource Center, on substance abuse among teenagers.
“What’s great about the iPad,” Dziak said, “is that it’s current and hip but it also has a variety of health and wellness applications that users can download for free. These applications offer a simple and colorful way to count calories, graph blood pressure over a period of weeks or look up possible causes for other symptoms you may be experiencing.”
So enter your name for a chance to win the iPad by attending Milford Health & Wellness Day on Saturday, September 25.
