Patients & Visitors:
Safety and Security
Fire Drill:
Periodic fire drills are required by state regulation. You will hear fire alarms and people responding. These drills will not affect you personally. The door to your room will be closed during the drill and you and your visitors, if any, will be expected to remain in your room unless otherwise instructed.
Smoking Policy:
Because it is injurious to your health and to the health of others who may be in the same area with you, smoking is not permitted anywhere in the hospital.
Valuables:
You are advised not to bring valuables or large amounts of money with you since the hospital will not be liable for lost or stolen property. If you should have valuables, either send them home or have them deposited in the hospital safe until you are discharged. A nurse will assist you with this procedure.

Medications:
Your physician will order medications you require during your hospital stay, and a nurse will bring them to you according to the prescription. If you brought medication to the hospital from home, for your safety, please inform your nurse.
Dentures, Hearing Aids And Eye Glasses:
While in the hospital, be particularly careful with your dentures, hearing aids, and eye glasses. Please do not wrap them in tissues or napkins or leave them on your meal tray because they may be unintentionally discarded. There are special cups for dentures for those who request them. The hospital will not accept responsibility for dentures, hearing aids, nor eye glasses.
Wheelchairs:
Please ask a staff member for assistance whenever you are using a wheelchair. It is hazardous to get in or out of a wheelchair unassisted, since they can easily move or tip over. Please do not lean over to reach for anything while seated.
