Newton Memorial Hospital offers the communities it serves a full-service Emergency Department providing emergency services and minor treatment services when you need them most. Most physicians on the staff are Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, and many nurses are certified in Emergency Nursing.
Services include a minor treatment area and a pediatric emergency waiting area with a child-friendly layout and design.

The State Department of Health has designated Newton Memorial Hospital as a Primary Stroke Treatment Center. The Emergency Department Staff is specially trained for identifying and initiating treatment to stroke patients. Our arrival time to CT scan is one of the best in the state. In addition, an on-site helicopter pad permits quick access to emergency transportation if a life-saving treatment is not available at Newton Memorial Hospital.
Newton Memorial renovated the Emergency Department in 2005, creating enough space to handle regional population growths for the next 20 years. At more than 22,000-square-feet, the Emergency Department features state-of-the-art emergency care, 30 private treatment areas and a lab and radiology department dedicated to providing quick, exceptional care.
The Emergency Department has experts on hand for infectious disease control and decontamination.

Newton Memorial also has Psychiatric Emergency Services, which offers emergency 24-hour assistance for anyone experiencing an acute mental health emergency or crisis. Emergency Services will provide immediate care for patients of all ages, including specialized care for children, adolescents and senior citizens.
