Pediatrics

Newton Memorial Hospital offers the full range of Inpatient Pediatric Services, including a special waiting area for children in our Emergency Department.
Children are welcomed into a comfortable, child-oriented environment with a well-equipped playroom, children’s menu as well as meals and sleeping accommodations for parents who choose to stay with their child.
Our Pediatric Department offers a comprehensive Pre-Surgery Education Program using puppets, films and handouts. We encourage mom or dad to put on a pair of scrubs and escort your child right to the Operating Room where the Operating Room staff is waiting to greet you.
Newton Memorial Hospital also is one of few Hospitals in New Jersey with a Pediatric Hospitalist program. These pediatricians are available in-house 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our Pediatric Hospitalists provide exceptional care to your child while communicating with your family practitioner about any developments or updates. The Pediatric Hospitalists help to provide continuous around-the-clock care to your children.
Joel T. Hardin, the Director of Cardiology at the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, sees patients at Newton Memorial Hospital as a consulting physician.
Dr. Hardin is the only pediatric cardiologist in Sussex County and will see children who are born with severe congenital heart defects in the Charles L. Tice Heart Center for Diagnostic Services. The addition of Dr. Hardin helps Newton Memorial Hospital provide world-class care for our young patients closer to home.
The Pediatric Department is known for its exceptional staff of board certified and board-eligible pediatricians, many of whom have additional specialized training in specific diseases affecting children and adolescents
Whether caring for hospitalized children, those treated on an outpatient basis or with special needs, Newton Memorial Hospital physicians have an interactive approach to care that makes a wide range of clinical expertise available to young patients through referral and ongoing consultation.
