The Renal Center of Newton LLC

The Renal Center of Newton LLC opened in 2004 as a joint venture with Newton Medical Center. It provides kidney dialysis on an outpatient basis and saves area residents from commuting long distances for the highly specialized service. Depending on the condition, kidney dialysis may be required several times a week.
Conveniently located in downtown Newton, The Renal Center of Newton offers Hemodialysis and Peritoneal dialysis under the leadership of Dennis J. Talon, M.D., the Medical Director of the Renal Center. The facility includes a specialized staff of compassionate nurses and skilled technicians.
Hemodialysis is a process by which the blood is cleansed outside the body and returned back to the body. In-center treatment is three times a week and could take as long as four hours. By Fall of 2008, the Renal Center plans to offer home hemodialysis, which means people may be able to get treatment in the comfort of their own homes.
Peritoneal dialysis is a process by which fluid is entered into the patient’s abdominal cavity, which is covered by a thin membrane called the peritoneum. The dialysis fluid makes the waste products that typically accumulate in failing kidneys move from the blood into the fluid, essentially working as a dialysis filter. As the fluid gets saturated, the solution must be exchanged regularly.
The Renal Center of Newton LLC is located at 7 East Clinton Street in Newton. For more information about the Renal Center either ask your physician or call (973) 940-0965.
