Sleep Diagnostic & Treatment Center:
The Sleep Evaluation
The Sleep Evaluation begins with a brief interview which includes questions about health history and the symptoms that have brought a person to the Center for testing. Then, patients spend the night undergoing a test known as polysomnography, a non-invasive test that involves the placement of electrodes on your body. A sleep technician will monitor data collected throughout the test concerning brain activity, muscle activity, eye movement, respiration and heart rate.
A doctor must order the test.
A sleep study generates about 1,000 pages of data. One of the Center’s sleep medicine physicians will review the report and make a diagnosis and treatment recommendations based on the findings.
